We have based this fictional role play, off of an actual asylum that was open from 1902 through 1979. The Bartonville Asylum still stands between Peoria and Pekin, Illinois.
We have chosen to begin our roleplay in the mid 1920’s, around the time the asylum would be celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Our head physician has just died and the asylum is expecting new patients The staff must keep things together while they wait for the medical board to assign a new head physician to the hospital..
We have no idea who the new patients or the new head physician will be. We will leave that up to you to decide...
We are an intermediate to advanced roleplay, however, we are open to all writing levels, so don't be intimidated. Please note you must read the rules of this forum, register and apply before you can begin.

Main Hospital
Level 1 Wanna visit a patient? well this is were you do it. Family members and visitors are not permitted access to any other part of the hospital grounds.
Level 2 The pediatrics unit is made up of eleven units on the left and the right. A unit, which houses up to twelve girls, on the right and twelve boys on the left.
Bedrooms are connected to a central hallway, and community/ game room, equipped with ping pong table and couches, tables with decks of cards and backgammon boards.
Level 3 The Adult unit is made up of eleven units on the left and the right. A unit, which houses up to twelve Males, on the right and twelve Females on the left.
Bedrooms are connected to a central hallway, and community/ game room, equipped with ping pong table and couches, tables with decks of cards, a small book case with books and a small radio.
Level 4 Facility prison is made up of 24 small rooms on the left and the right. A room, houses a single patient. They are connected to a central hallway, that lead to several treatment centers.
These patients only leave there cells for treatment. and never under any circumstances leave the fourth floor. patients from the level 2 and 3 are brought here for their treatments.
Patient cottages There are 33 patients cottages on the grounds. these patients have checked themselves into the hospital and are deemed capable to take care of themselves and are not a threat to themselves or others.
These buildings are co-ed there is room for 5 women and 5 men in each, all of the patients have there own rooms. but they are still confined to the building and to the grounds.
Kitchen and Bakery The Kitchen is located near the grounds bakery just behind the main hospital building.
The floor area may not be much bigger than your neighborhood restaurant but the ambiance and taste of their food can rival those of fine dining restaurants. And the best thing is, there’s a different specialty everyday so if you want to know what they’ll be serving that day, better give them a call. They also have regular menu that you can order anytime.
Laundry Facilities This is where the patients and staff members laundry is taken to be cleaned and folded.

Lawns (2 sub-boards) surrounding the school is some grassy expanse, perfect for picnics (permitted by doctors, of course) in the warmer months, leaf piles, and hmm, maybe some snowball fights?
Nurse's Dorms Each Nurse’s dormitory is made up of fourteen units. A unit, which houses up to twelve women, includes four bedrooms, a study lounge with seating for six or seven, and an over sized bathroom (two showers, two toilets, three sinks).
Bartonville Asylum Store This is the on grounds store for patients and physicians. They are often enticed by tantalizing window displays. Staff and patients alike love to browse the array of merchandise.
